Traditionally, riders spend all their money on their horse’s performance and fail to look after their own health. Until now. Introducing the EquaLife all-natural plant Terpene supplement range for equestrian riders.
Made in Australia, by riders, for riders with all-natural, nothing nasty ingredients, it’s a supplement range without the highs and lows of horse riding!
Designed by a registered pharmacist, the blends are made with the finest terpenes, chemicals naturally found in plants.
Research shows that terpenes may contribute to wellness as part of healthy lifestyle management due to their various therapeutic properties. Common wellness effects include improvements in physical aches and tension, balancing mood and calmness, controlling appetite, sharper thinking, reducing restlessness and supporting sleep.
How Do They Work?
Terpenes can act on the body’s own endocannabinoid system, which is a complex network of cell receptors that work as chemical messengers throughout the body. Terpenes are known to interact with cannabinoid receptors CB1 (located mostly in the brain and central nervous system) and CB2 (mostly located in the gut, muscle, joints, skin and other organs).
The endocannabinoid system plays a role in regulating a range of functions and processes. Appetite and digestion, metabolism, chronic pain, inflammation and other immune system responses mood to name a few.
These functions all contribute to homeostasis, which refers to stability of your body’s internal environment. For example, if an outside force, such as pain from an injury or a fever, throws off your body’s homeostasis, your endocannabinoid system kicks in to help your body return to its ideal operation.
Your endocannabinoid system involves 3 main components:
- Endocannabinoids (anandamide {full name N-arachidonoylethanolamine} and 2-AG {full name 2-arachidonoylglycerol});
- Receptors; and
- Enzymes.
There are two main receptors in the endocannabinoid system:
- CB1 receptors, which interact with the brain and are mostly found in the central nervous system; and
- - CB2 receptors, which interact with the muscles and organs and are mostly found in the peripheral nervous system and the immune cells.
Endocannabinoids, along with plant derived terpenes, bind to either of the endocannabinoid receptors that are found throughout the body, signalling to the body that the endocannabinoid system needs to take action. The effects that result depend on where the receptor is located, which endocannabinoid binds to it and how strongly it binds.
For example, endocannabinoids, cannabinoids and terpenes might target CB1 receptors in a spinal nerve to relieve pain. Others might bind to CB2 receptors in your immune cells to reduce inflammation, which can be a common sign of autoimmune disorders.
Tell Me More!
Our products DO NOT contain CBD (cannabidiol) or THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). In Australia, it is currently illegal to source terpene from hemp or cannabis, therefore our terpenes are derived from other plant sources. Terpenes have not yet been listed in Australia as therapeutic goods, so we do not imply any therapeutic benefits with any statement.
